Preview Animation!

Alright here's my first polish pass on my animation. I still have a way to go with it, but it's definitely coming along. I to polish the animation further, using more exaggeration. Of course, the texturing is not complete and the lighting needs some attention too. I definitely feel on track to release the completed short at the end of April. I'm loving the process. I'm constantly finding new things that I love and want to explore further with art. bon apetite

Here are some environment sketches I've done. The torture chamber was from imagination while the others were from life. My friend Nathan and I sat at Marymore Park in Redmond and started sketching. I loved the Windmill's architecture and simple details. Plus, the tree in front of it is awesome. Usually it is completely covered with leaves all the way down to the grass, making it a nice spot to kick it without having to worry about the rain.

Djinn and Juice

So here are a few previews on the environment I'm working on for a game I'm working on. I'll be handling the texturing. The game is actually pretty cool. I'd love to tell you more, but I'm not sure what the school's rules are on that. haha

Lovin sequential art!

For this, I was given a title to work with as a premise. The title I got was "Kung-Fu Bloodbath II: Rico's Revenge". I thought it was a perfect title to work with and came up with a chef who is really angry about his stolen pizza.

Drawn on paper, scanned into photoshop where I painted using a wacom tablet.

The Saga Begins

So, after two and a half years of art school I decided to do what all the cool kids are doing and create a blog to document my progression as an artist. I'm a junior at DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond, Washington and learning all sorts of cutting edge stuff like 3D animation, digital painting, and good ol' traditional art skills. So far, I like it all, but have an inclination toward narrative. Movies? Games? Who knows...for now I'm just enjoying the process of learning and doing my best to grow as an artist everyday.

Today, Blizzard came to our school to scope out some talent and show off how awesome they are...which they are indeed. Some friends and I put together portfolios to show them our strengths. It was cool to see that some of my work is actually worth being looked at by a professional. She gave me some great advise which I plan on implementing in my work. She liked my "Bazeuska" design the most and told me that if I added some small design details like cracks and greek patterns it would be up to snuff.
